Advantages of Tramping Quilts

Ultralight hiking quilts represent a modern advancement over traditional sleeping bags, leveraging new materials and designs for improved performance. Unlike bulky sleeping bags, quilts eliminate unnecessary insulation on the underside, where compression makes it ineffective. This reduces weight without compromising warmth.

Lighter, more compressible, and offering customizable comfort, quilts reflect the latest in outdoor gear innovation, designed to meet the demands of the modern tramper.

Cosy and Versatile

Quilts offer unmatched freedom and versatility on the trail, letting you sleep in a natural position without feeling confined. You can move, adjust, and regulate your temperature more easily, making them perfect for varied conditions. The open design allows you to vent heat on warmer nights or snuggle up in colder conditions by tucking the edges or the included using pad straps. This adaptability makes quilts ideal for trampers who value freedom of movement and comfort, ensuring you're not constrained by the limits of traditional sleeping bags.

Optional Footbox

The optional footbox enhances both comfort and temperature regulation. When closed, the footbox keeps your feet warm and snug on cold nights; but when it’s warmer, you can open it up, allowing for airflow and preventing overheating. This flexibility lets you adjust to changing temperatures on the trail, offering comfort across a wider range of conditions. Whether you prefer to tuck your feet in or stretch out, the optional footbox gives you the freedom to adapt to your needs without compromise.

Pad Straps Help Retain Heat

Pad straps are a game-changer for securing your quilt to a sleeping pad, eliminating drafts and keeping warmth in. By anchoring the quilt to the pad, they create a complete sleep system that ensures warmth, even during restless nights. Compared to sleeping bags, which can twist when you roll over, pad straps keep your quilt right where you want it all night long.

Ultralight vs. Traditional

The warmth of your insulation is based on the loft/thickness of the down. We use higher fill power down than traditional companies do for most of their products, so we can make a quilt with the same temperature rating using significantly less weight. By comparison, 40% more 600FP down (used in many sleeping bags) is required to fill the same volume as our 850+FP down.

Our 10D fabric choice is equally beneficial compared to the 20D+ fabrics used in most sleeping bags. This results in a softer touch against your skin, at about half the weight.

Superior Box-Baffle Design

Unlike sewn-through designs, which can create cold spots by compressing insulation at the seams, our box-baffle quilts create individual chambers that hold the insulation evenly. This construction allows the down to loft fully, ensuring consistent warmth across the quilt while minimizing heat loss. The result is an efficient design that provides superior insulation and comfort in a lightweight package, ideal for serious trampers seeking performance and warmth.
